3-Day Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar to Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1

Fly to Arusha: Explore Serengeti National Park.

The day begins with a flight from Zanzibar to the heart of Serengeti National Park, landing at Seronera Airstrip. Upon arrival, your guide will be waiting to welcome you and begin the safari experience right away. You’ll head out on your first game drive, exploring the central Serengeti — an area known for its rich concentration of wildlife and year-round game viewing.

As you drive through the endless plains, you may encounter herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and the majestic giraffe moving across the savannah. The central region is also home to big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, often seen resting under acacia trees or scanning the horizon from rocky outcrops. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the sights, sounds, and rhythm of the wild — a true introduction to the spirit of the Serengeti.

A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic spot inside the park. Later, you’ll head to your selected lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by nature.

Day 2

Serengeti National Park.

After a peaceful night in the wild, you’ll rise in the morning and enjoy breakfast at your camp or lodge. From there, you’ll set out for another exciting game drive, this time heading toward the Ndutu area — a region where the southern Serengeti meets the northern edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ndutu is known for its open plains and seasonal marshes, which attract a rich variety of wildlife. During the right time of year, this area becomes the heart of the Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles gather — and where predators like lions and cheetahs follow closely. Even outside the migration season, Ndutu offers beautiful scenery and excellent game viewing, with fewer vehicles and a more intimate safari feel.

The day is spent exploring this wild corner of the Serengeti, with stops to enjoy the views and wildlife along the way. After a full day of adventure, you’ll return to your accommodation for dinner and a well-earned rest under the African sky.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

In the morning, after breakfast, you’ll depart from Serengeti and begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you drive through the changing landscapes, from open plains to green highlands, the scenery becomes more dramatic with every kilometer.

Once you reach the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll descend into one of the most remarkable natural wonders in Africa. The crater, formed over two million years ago, is a haven for wildlife — a natural enclosure where animals live in abundance all year round. Inside the caldera, you’ll enjoy a game drive across grasslands and along lake shores, with a chance to see elephants, lions, buffalo, hyenas, hippos, and — if you’re lucky — the rare black rhino.

A picnic lunch will be served in a peaceful spot within the crater. After your safari, you’ll ascend back to the rim and continue the journey to Arusha Airport for your return flight to Zanzibar, carrying with you memories of wild beauty, close encounters, and the raw magic of Tanzania’s most iconic landscapes.
